Our testing panel wore each pair for a minimum of 20 hours across trains, open-plan offices and gyms. We measured battery drain at a fixed volume and logged pairing reliability with both Android and iOS handsets.
The biggest surprise this year was how well the sub-£150 tier handled low-frequency cabin noise. Flagship models still pull ahead on call clarity in wind, but the gap is far narrower than the price difference suggests.
Fit remains the deciding factor. If a pair does not seal for you, no amount of processing rescues the bass, so buy from a retailer with a straightforward UK returns window.
